I've been writing using the browser version since March and it really hasn't been too bad. Other than the initial discomfort of transitioning, things have been smooth. If you haven't heard of the work around, I wrote an article here (https://benconlin.medium.com/writing-a-medium-article-on-mobile-e57d6b9d60c0) about how to do it. I agree the change seems unnecessary, but unless they choose to revert it, for some of us writing from browser is all we have.
